FIREWORKS FIREWORKS FIREWORKS
Most of us love fireworks.... And why not, they sparkle with more colors than Crayola can create. And with firework names like Chrysanthemum, Green Bees and Comet who can resist these glowing, glittering, flashing, burst of fun?
So it's understandable why so many people want to host their own pyrotechnic show. But if your considering lighting up the sky over your neighborhood there are things you need to know.....
I wanted to find out for sure what the rules and regulations are for our area. We live in Littleton so I called the Littleton Fire and Resuce and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department for the and asked them "are fireworks legal in Littleton?"
In a word: Yes Fireworks are legal.... But there are some things you need to know...
Fireworks can only be used in unincorporated Littleton. I believe as long as you don't live in a part of town that is corporate the same rules apply- but check with locat Fire departments and Sheriff's offices.
The type of fireworks you can use are most important. Simply put the Jefferson County Sheriff's office stated, "if it goes up in the air or explodes it can not be used". Littleton Fire and Rescue stated; "if you cause a fire or any damage due to the use of fireworks you are liable for the cost of the damages and injuries you cause".
The fine for possesing illegal fireworks in Jefferson County is $999.00.
You may want to check you homeowners insurance policy if they will cover damage you cause with fireworks before shooting a 26oz Fierce Tiger Rocket into your neighbors pool house....
So if you were planning that trip to Wyoming and fill your trunk with the Wolf Pack Radical Recoil Shells or the Big Burst Ballistic Rockets you need to know that according to Trooper Reed with the Colorado State Patrol it is not legal to have these types of fireworks in your possession. If caught you may be issued a summons and could have to appear in court. For more details about the laws associated with fireworks visit: Firework Laws
So to sum it up; YES you can have your own Spectacular Macy's Fireworks display but you have to keep it on the ground and it must not explode.
If you are going to indulge in this holiday tradition please be review the US Consumer Product Safety Commission on Fireworks
